NCR-PROBE: Meteorological and Environment Education Workshop for Youth in Schools of Delhi

Department of Science and Technology (DST) under its Inter-Sectoral Science and Technology Advisory Committee (IS-STAC) has taken an initiative to launch a scheme on participation of youth in schools in acquisition, generation, use and dissemination of field data. Under the scheme, a programme entitled Participation of youth in Real-time / field Observation to Benefit Education (PROBE) has been conceived.
Objective
To educate the school children, teachers and staff about the Impact of weather and climate on: Atmospheric process, Society, Agriculture, Plants and Safety from natural hazards.

Participants
The participants in the workshop were from representative students and teachers from six defense schools of NCR Delhi besides officials from DST, Govt. of India, National Informatics Centre, Directorate of Meteorology, Indian Air Force, Department of Environment & Forest, Directorate of Education of Govt. of NCT of Delhi and principals of Kendriya Vidyalayas.
Workshop Proceeding
A book on workshop proceeding containing messages, speeches, discussion inputs, and papers of eminent scientists, academics and policy makers in the areas of meteorology and environmental education. The note worthies are: Shri Kapil Sibal, Prof V.S. Ramamurthy, Dr (Mrs) Malti Goel, Prof S.K. Dash, Dr B. Lal, Air Vice Marshal Ajit Tyagi was published on successful completion of the programme.
