SHG Interaction Meet
Venue: Divisional Forest Office (Mahendragarh, Rewari, Bhiwani, Jind, Hisar, Sirsa, Fatehabad)
Duration: September 16 – 30, 2005
JBIC Project: Integrated Natural Resource Management and Poverty Reduction in Haryana lay stress on two micro level institutions of the society, i.e. Self Help Group (SHG) and Village Forest Committee (VFC). These institutions are expected to catalyze in the developmental dimension of socio-economic and environmental process of the society. We initiated a major initiative in the form of SHG interaction meet from 16 th to 30 th, September 2005 for revitalization SHGs and experience sharing on various income generation programmes.
Beneficiaries
A total of 1,600 members from 193 SHGs from seven districts of Haryana (Mahendragarh, Rewari, Jind, Bhiwani, Hisar, Fatheabad and Sirsa) participated in the programme.
Purpose of the Meet
The purpose of the SHG Interaction Meet is to facilitate interaction among group members with others so as to develop an agenda of action for motivation and institutionalization of their activities at social and economic spheres. The Agenda item includes:
- Experience sharing among the members about SHG, its role and importance in the institution building, women’s empowerment and enterprise creation process
- The project and its role among others in the poverty reduction process
- Any other related to the project and SHG activities
Thematic Areas
- Social issues (Women/child education, empowerment, alcohol eradication, infant foeticide)
- Overview of JBIC Project, SHG & IGA programmes
- Interaction with individual groups, problem and suggestion to all their concerning issues
- Discussions in details about various proposed income generation programmes
